After graduation, I tried University of Moncton for a while, did not really interest me. Did the "Going Down the Road" routine, moved to Toronto for a while. It wasn't much different there than it was in Moncton, so I moved back. Started with the DOT (Department of Transport) as a draftsman in 1966. On a lark I applied for a position with the DOT Marine Services (later changed to Canadian Coast Guard) in Saint John, and got the job. Moved to Saint John in January of 1967, been here ever since. Married the former Judy Ogilvie (MHS Class of 1966) in 1967. I progressed through several positions with the Coast Guard, and will be retiring after 35 years in the spring of 2001. My last 7-8 years were spent as the Navigable Waters Protection Officer for N.B. and P.E.I. Anything built in navigable waters has to be approved by the Coast Guard, and that's what I did. We have two grown sons, Michael and Robin, who are both married and live in Saint John. Michael has a son Ryan who was born in 1986, our only grandchild at this time. Judy works as a Ward Clerk at the Saint John Regional Hospital. I became an amateur photographer after MHS, and revived my early high school hobby of model railroading in the early 1980's. These have been my passion ever since. I make and photograph scale railroad models and submit articles to hobby magazines. I have had a good success, with almost 800 photos published to date. Lots to do for my retirement! Check out my personal web site to see my hobby activities!

2 children , 5 grandchildren - Presently Finance Manager @ Eastern Maine Electric Coop Finished degree at U of Maine-Machais in Business Adm. in 83, had my own accounting and tax business for 10 years, sold it to work for City of Calais for 5yrs as Finance Mgr. Like our small town which is situated on the border of Maine-beautiful here winter & summer, but the economy stinks right now.
19 Mar 2002
After leaving high school I went to work in the Finance business for several years in Moncton, Amherst, Woodstock NB, Saint John and Halifax. This seemed strange as I graduated in the Industrial dept in motor mechanics. While I was in Amherst I drove back to Riverview one weekend in Oct 63 and married Karen Watkins. She still puts up with me to this day after 39 years and five years of dating. After arriving in Halifax I became a drug peddler with National Drug. Remaining in the Health and Beauty Aid business for over a decade I represented Beecham products when "a little dab l do ya" was in style and I ushered in the first 5 million dollar health and beauty aid promotion in Canada while I was with Gillette of Canada. One day being somewhat out of my mind I left Gillette and opened Riverview Sports Equipment. We moved back to Riverview for 5 years. In 81 the economy went down the tube so I sold everything off and we moved back to Halifax area where we stayed. After managing service depts. in two car dealerships I ended up in the sign business for the last 14 years. I am National Account Executive with Mattatall Signs Limited with clients through out North America. Karen has been for well over 15 years with Stewart, McKelvy, Stirling, Scales a law firm in Halifax. We are proud to have two terrific children, two grand sons, two grand dogs and a suspected grandchild on the way. Marla our academic, has it seems been going to school forever. She recently received her Masters in philosophy from the University of Guelph. She has been invited to complete her Ph.D. in the Philosophy of Mathematics with the University of Melbourne Aust. She has also applied to Univ. of British Columbia. Decision time I guess. Her two boys Simon 10 and Seven 3 have been my weekend buddies for the last three years while their mother completed her thesis. We will terribly miss them when they move. Tyson our Geologist has traveled South East Asia plying the jungles of Indonesia in the search for gold. When fighting broke out (not over gold) he ended up back in Canada and married to Kelly Hatchette (Dartmouth & Pugwash) and living in Calgary working with Bolt Energy. Kelly is Information Officer with the Calgary Police Dept Karen and I keep busy with our family, we play a little golf, I play a lot. We travel some and do the normal stuff. We are looking keenly forward to seeing forgotten faces at the reunion.

During my time there I completed a masters program at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. I only spent my last high school year in Moncton High School as I moved in from Nova Scotia during the summer of 1961. I left Moncton during the summer of 1962, joined the RCMP, and have been in Newfoundland ever since. I married here, have three grown children, and retired 10 years ago. While my parents were alive I would be in Moncton every year, but since their passing my visits are becoming less frequent.

I am married (second time) to a wonderful gal and between us we have five great, adult children. We have two teachers, one Physical Therapist, one Federal Corrections Officer, and one Golf Pro. They have blessed us with eight beautiful grandchildren..3 girls..5 boys.
After I left Moncton in 1964, I served 4 years in the US Air Force, and followed that with 21 years at Digital Equipment Corp...during that time I served 20 years in the Army Reserve. I took the "buyout" from Digital and then worked for 9 years at the New England Center for Children, which serves Mentally Retarded/Austic children. From there we have become Foster Parents to two young, MR/Autistic men. Life has been good to me!!!
My fondest memories of Moncton are "Dance-a-rama" with "Jerry and the Playboys Band", the local Pubs and playing Senior Basketball League.
I would enjoy hearing from anyone who shared any if these experiences.

Having come from Halifax in 12th grade, I only spent one year at Moncton High. At this point in time I am only in contact with two of my fellow classmates, so it was with much eagerness that I looked at and on the website. Living in Fla. full time, not just an occasional winter time visitor, I don't have many opportunities to visit Moncton. I would dearly love to go this summer, but, due to an earlier scheduled visit to Toronto in July and because of our return to school(Fla style) in early August it is highly unlikely I will be able to make a second trip northward this summer.(I still have to work for a living!!!) Currently, I am working for a 21st Century Federal Learning Grant in Orlando as the grant manager. After teaching for 18 years mostly in Montreal, I moved with my family to Orlando in 1984. Still have the same husband(33 years this July) and two grown children. Our daughter is a Physical Therapist, graduate of Dalhousie and McGill Universities and now a resident of North Carolina. Our son is a Social Worker also a grad of Dalhousie and the University of Central Florida, and currently living in Phoenix. So our small family has managed to keep us busy traveling in our spare time to visit them. If there is any way possible I would dearly love to be with you all this summer, if it cannot be arranged I will be eagerly waiting to hear all the exciting news from my 2 contacts. Best wishes to all.

Congratulations to the Reunion Planning Committee for a fabulous job - great organization and wonderful spirit. Best wishes to everybody in the class of 1962.
Always felt lucky to have gone to MHS. Really good atmosphere and good people. Unreliable witnesses - mostly Navy - still say that no bash at RMC was complete unless Chris Lenahan, Marsh Beck and yours truly had climbed up on a table amid the glassware to belt out just one more rendition of "Stand Up and Cheer for Old Moncton High."
Looking forward so much to seeing old friends and acquaintances in a couple of weeks.
I graduated from UNB with a degree in mechanical engineering. After 27 years with CN Rail, I became an involuntary participant in downsizing in May '96. (Guess we're all famous for a moment.) My hobby these days is barbershop singing. I'd love to hear from the old gang, especially Zeke's class 12J.

Annette(Caissie), my wife, helped me give birth to a quarter dozen daughters: Suzanne, Tanya and Julie - ages 32,27 and 17. We reside in Tide Head (C’ton) on the scenic Restigouche River where we grow 100 varieties of plums and 20 of grapes. After graduating from MHS, I completed my Schooling in Ottawa (Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology) and Calgary (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) graduating from SAIT in 1967 with a Mechanical Technology Diploma. After graduation I started a long enjoyable career with the City of Calgary which will culminate in my retirement this year. After retirement I will be embarking on a new vocation that will involve operating RV Caravans to Alaska, the Yukon, and Northwest Territories; doing public speaking engagements on the RV Lifestyle; and journalism ( write an editorial column on the RV Lifestyle for one of the local dailies with a readership of over 300,000).
In a further message, Duane wrote:
Its been a log time since I was able to access any info about MHS. I don't know how long you have had a web page but I couldn't access anything the last time I tried.
It was nice to see there is a E.W.N.Bradley Scholarship. When I think back to the time I spent at MHS (1959-1961) there are only two teachers who stand out in my mind, Mr. Bradley and Mr. Dewitt. Of the two I think Mr. Bradley had the most profound impact on me. He was my home room teacher in grade 12 as well as my math teacher. His love of teaching and his zeal to impart knowledge to his students opened my mind to the workings of math, an interest which has pursued me all my life.
I will always remember Mr. Bradley as being a hard taskmaster when it came to math, but at the same a very fair person, quick to help any student who was having trouble with Math. I think that of all the teachers I had during my academic years, he is the only one who I wish I had the opportunity to talk to and thank for what he did for me. But living so many miles away the situation never presented itself.

Following graduation from MHS I spent my entire teaching career in Port Elgin, teaching various subjects from grade 6 to grade 12 and retired in 1998. During that time I had a one year break while on sabbatical leave.
I received my BA from UNB, my BEd.from Mount A and my Masters degree from Acadia. I also took time to get my level 1 and level 11 coaching certificates, was an instructor for the Hunter and Firearms safety course with DNR, and taught summer school at Harrison
Trimble for two summers.
During my teaching career I coached basketball, hockey, volleyball, and track and field, and later on took up basketball officiating for about 14 years.
In 1993 I had quadruple bypass surgery and, luckily, I am still able to stay active. I have grown older but refuse to grow up. My toys seem to have gotten more expensive-the latest of which are a 2009 4x4 Chev pickup and a new Kioti CK20S compact tractor. I
still love the outdoors and always anxiously await deer season. I also love to golf but do it rather horribly. There is never a bad day on the golf course-just a bad score. Four-wheeling is another of my passtimes, as is woodworking.
No, BJ, I haven't yet taken up curling. Maybe I will get around to that .
