Never did make it to drafting school, ended up in Bookkeeping for 30+ yrs. We are both semi retired now. We manage a 36 unit senior apt bldg and I work three days a week in the accounting office at Walmart. Have a motor home and take off whenever we can. Am still working on trying to get back for the reunion but the Air flight companies don’t cooperate with seat sales in July or Aug. Oh well perhaps some of you will e-mail me sometime. Been looking through my yearbook and reminiscing.

I joined the Air Force in July 1963 and served with Search and Rescue on Vancouver Island, where I became enamoured with mountaineering and skiing. I was selected to the National Ski Team and trained for a couple of seasons in Banff. Postings to France and Germany allowed me to further pursue my mountaineering interests and kindled a passion for wine. I returned to Canada to further my education and to train as a pilot. In 1969 I transferred to the Navy and served as a watchkeeping officer in ships on the West Coast before being posted to National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa. I then took a sabbatical in 1975 to join a mountaineering expedition to the Hindu Kush in Afghanistan then lived in Europe a further five months, climbing in the Italian, Swiss and French Alps and exploring the wine country before returning to Vancouver Island to design and conduct leadership training programs for an outdoor education school. Rejoining the Navy, I was assigned to create and implement leadership programs for junior officers in the Naval Reserve and was then transferred to the Officer Candidate School in Chilliwack, BC to train new officers joining the Canadian Forces. On resigning my commission in 1981 to pursue other interests I bought and lived aboard a 48-foot ketch in Vancouver and worked as wine consultant for Canada's largest wine importer. In 1984 I married Memory Fahlman of Griffin, Saskatchewan, missing by three months my promise to wait until my fortieth birthday. We set-up a wine importing company and began organizing and conducting wine and food tours to France, Italy and California and writing wine columns and articles. While Memory runs the wine business, I have converted my life-long passion for coin collecting into a company that has become Canada's leading buyer, seller and auctioneer of rare coins. Unless we are travelling on business, and depending on the day of the week or season of the year, we can be found at our home in Crescent Beach, south of Vancouver, at our townhouse overlooking Vancouver's Granville Island or on Lady Jane, our 13 metre Dutch yacht, currently in St-Jean-de-Losne, Cote de France.
