Class of '81 |
9 May 2006
All is well in Bedford. My partner and soon to be husband, Mike, and I just bought ourselves a little cottage on Lake Lewis in New Russell. My daughter Madeline will be 8 in April and Mike's children are 19 (Tristan) and 16 (Jeslyn). They all get along great and we have a ball. By the time we have our 25th, I will be O'Leary. After having to spell Balch for 42 years, it will be nice not to be asked how to spell my last name.
Mike and I both work for Nova Scotia Power. I am the Customer Service Manager for the HRM area, and he is a lineman. I have now been with NSPI for 12 years. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. As a matter of fact, had a flashback just this morning. My daughter was using an old concert ticket I had saved, as a bookmark. It was from the Styx Grand Illusion tour in 1981. Guess what song I can't get out of my mind now?!?! See you all in July 2006.

My husband is from Hillsbourough and guess where we live?! It's been 20 years for us, hope to hear from some more MHS grads of '81.

Hello to all. Steve (also class of 81) and I have been living on the south shore of Montreal for about 3 years now. We enjoy having a house and have plans to make some improvements. I also work on the south shore. I stayed with the same company but moved into the Home Decor department and left the management side to others. It is much more creative, with less stress in certain respects. Please feel free to drop a line anytime.

May 25, 2009
All is well with team Cormier. I left highschool for Art college in NS and Married Joy Ferguson, what a year.
I left college in '84 and my daughter April-Joy was born on my 21st birthday. We moved back to Moncton then and I joined the Navy.
My short lived Navy career was replaced by 10 years in the Air Force as a Teletype and Cypher technician where we were posted to Kingston, Ont., Lahr West Germany and Penhold Alberta., where my two sons Logan and Danny were born.
The military then offered to send me to university so we moved to Winnipeg Manitoba where my last son Samuel was born, and I earned a degree in Computer Engineering.
Now as an officer in the signals community I was posted to Valcartier, QC., and then to Ottawa, Ont., where we settled down and spent 8 years. Last year,2008, I was posted to Fort Meade USA and we moved again.
It is hard to believe how old I am getting! It would be nice to hear from some of my fellow graduates.
Have a super year

Happily living in the great city of Halifax with Marc and our 4 children, Jonathan (b1991), Laura (b1994), Bryan (b1997) and the very busy Melissa (B2001), 2 cats, 1 fish, and much talked about future dog! I have done many things since graduating MHS and Acadia, some more fun than others! But my time is consumed at present by all that goes with 4 children. We live in the MHS section of Halifax with 6 1981 grads residing in or having ties to a few blocks of the north end. Imagine how many others must be around! Let us know if you are out there! We'll work on the Halifax component of the 25 year reunion.

Just found this site and think it's awesome. A lot of memories come back after reading some of the entries and digging the yearbook out for a look. I am looking forward to future re-unions as I have missed the previous ones. Since leaving Moncton High, I joined Day&Ross and have been there for the last 22 years doing everything from dock work, driving the big rigs, to my current post as operations supervisor at our Charlottetown terminal. 26 November 2003
I believe my email address depicts my family life style.
We will turn 40 this year, I felt that was a hard pill to swallow - for me it was in June. It was made easier and I adjusted well as we celebrated for a week. I am so fortunate to have a wonderful family and friends who won’t allow you to forget such a milestone! I am told it only gets better.
Life has brought many responsibilities and mine include 2 daughters, Lauren (1993) and Megan (1997) and a loving and supportive husband, Jean Guy. My career centers around the transportation industry where I have been employed since 1983. I hold the position of Director of Administration for Armour Transportation Systems which leads to a fair amount of traveling -we have 23 branches within Atlantic Canada.
During the summer of 2003 I was fortunate to be able to join some old friends from Forest Glen as well as MHS as we celebrated turning “40.” We celebrated the weekend by bringing along photos (both old and new), year books, diaries, etc. A lot of laughs were shared, and a few stories too.
All the best to each of you - ‘til we meet again.
May 11, 2011
Life is flying by...30 years since we graduated! Can you believe it...I know I can't.
My boys and I merged with my fiancee and his kids in the summer of 2009 (same guy I brought to the reunion) having built a new home to start our life together. We will marry this April in our home and share it with family and close friends.
Both my boys are in Engineering at Dalhousie University; one in 4th year and the other in 1st year, and are doing great.
I have a new baby...that is a 105 lbs baby...my half St Bernard half English mastiff puppy is one year old! The cats not so happy!
I am still with the provincial government and plan to retire in 2016 with 28 years service.
Life is good and I am so looking forward to the next half with my husband-to-be! And then there is the next reunion.
Drop me a line or find me on FB...many of us are one there now!

It's been a busy time since graduation, and I wonder where the years go. I graduated from Coast Guard College and spent 9 years in total with the Coast Guard on the East Coast spent mostly buoy-tending in the Bay of Fundy and Gulf of St. Lawrence or icebreaking in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and lower Arctic. I went back to Tech. College in Ontario, and came back to New Brunswick to also complete university at UNBSJ in the sciences. I worked my way West and ended-up in Northern BC, on the coast.
Some of my other experiences/jobs have included:
¨ Boat Guide/Handyman with the Churchill Northern Studies Center in Churchill, Manitoba, taking care researchers from base camp to an archaeological dig site by boat, including watching out for polar bears, and ice.
¨ Diving and research on sea cucumbers with UNBSJ in Passamaquoddy Bay.
¨ Working with Environment Canada in Northeastern NB, testing for faecal coliforms near shellfish beds.
¨ Working for the National Research Council, Halifax on aquaculture strains of algae.
¨ Working at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre and University of New Brunswick on marine finfish.
¨ Diving at a fish farm in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan.
¨ Deckhanding on an urchin packer on British Columbia’s North and Central Coasts, and a crab boat in Hecate Strait.
¨ Working for consulting firms in Norther BC, doing fisheries work, and again, often dealing with bears.
¨ Instructing at Northwest Community College, Prince Rupert, BC.
And lately:
¨ Been involved with the development of the community of Oona River for ecotourism and aquaculture potentials. We now have a hatchery/resource centre almost completed.
¨ Started my own partnership and have term contract work on habitat and fisheries work.
¨ Partnered on a 60 foot boat, and run eco-tours.
I was wondering if there were any “official” re-unions on the go. I’m also looking forward to hearing from any old friends.
P.S. My sister (Lori) is happily married and living outside of Calgary with 3 boys.

I'm continuing to develop custom software systems primarily using Oracle software. I'm married to Briana (class of 1984) with two kids - Josh 12 and Tia 9. We enjoy the beach all year round, sailing our Hobie 21 catamaran in the St. Johns river (it runs through the city), swimming with Manatees(!) and restoring our vintage Volkswagens. We're planning a trip home in the summer of 2003, but would love to hear from people anytime. If you're ever passing through Jacksonville on the way to visit the Mouse, give us a call. Are there any plans for a 25 year reunion? It might be interesting to catch up with everyone, since I never heard of our class having one yet.....

David was born in 1986 followed by Daniel in 1990.
After enjoying many years with our boys being heavily involved in sports, life has become very quiet.
