John Humphrey was a sergeant observer aboard a Wellington Bomber attached
to No. 99 Squadron Royal Air Force when he was killed in a crash at Great
Finbrough, Suffolk, England September 29, 1941. The son of James Albert
and Rita Humphrey of Sunny Brae, he was 20 when he died, one of five crewmen
from the Royal Air Force and Royal New Zealand Air Force to perish. Humphrey
was buried with full military honours at Ringshall (St. Catherine) Churchyard
in Suffolk.
